Fire Safety Awareness Half Day

Group POA

(Level 1 award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) Award in Fire Safety Awareness SCQF Level 4)

You will, no doubt, be well aware of the potentially devastating effects of fires in the workplace in terms of lives lost, injuries, damage to property and the environment, and to the business continuity. You may also be aware that it is believed that most fires are preventable. The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training.

This qualification is an ideal introduction into fire safety awareness for employees and a strong basis for undertaking further fire safety training. The qualification provides learners with an understanding of the key principles of fire safety from cause to prevention and response.  Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 1 qualification (Level 4 in Scotland).

Our Fire Safety Awareness Course covers the following subjects:

  • The common causes of fire
  • The behaviour of fire
  • Legislation (brief) and responsibilities
  • Fire prevention
  • What to do if a fire breaks out
  • How to use fire extinguishers
  • Emergency evacuation procedures

The qualification does not have an expiry date but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital.

It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.

This qualification is regulated in the UK and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA).
